When people hear about New Zealand, one of the first things that pops into their mind is the stunning places to visit. New Zealand has a strong focus on the environment. They ensure the natural essence of places is preserved to be enjoyed by everyone.

One of the things that surprised me when I got to Auckland for the first time was the parks. The parks are just incredible. Each of them has something special and interesting to see.

Here is a list of the 5 best parks in Auckland:

Albert Park

Albert Park

Albert Park is located in the heart of the city, and it is Languages International‘s back garden. In the middle of the park you can find a fountain with a statue of Queen Victoria. It’s surrounded by colourful flowers and trees. Also, you can see and hear a variety of beautiful birds. All year round you will see people taking pictures and enjoying nature. Some students go to stunning Albert Park on their graduation day to take remarkable pictures.

The Domain

The Auckland Domain

The Domain is the biggest and oldest park in Auckland. If you are walking through the Domain, you will find a gorgeous white building. This is the Auckland War Memorial Museum. It is worth visiting; you will learn a lot about New Zealand history.
But that’s not all! You will also see a small lake, the winter garden (two glass houses) and forest roads where you can walk and enjoy nature. All year round you can enjoy different events such as the Rally Race and photography exhibitions at the Auckland Museum.

One Tree Hill or Cornwall Park

One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill Park or Cornwall Park is one of the biggest parks. It has a volcanic mountain with a monument on the top. While you are walking to the top, you can see lots of sheep. It’s really beautiful. From the top of the mountain, you will get a great 360-degree view of Auckland. Do not forget to go to the Stardome Observatory and Planetarium. It is really interesting. (It is located in the park).

Michael Joseph Savage Memorial

Michael Joseph Savage Memorial is my favourite park. This place was made as a tribute for the first Labour Prime Minister in New Zealand. That is why there is a monument at the centre of the park. The park has beautiful and colourful gardens. The view is magical. You will be able to see Auckland City and the Harbour. It is common to see couples having their wedding photos taken there.

Western Springs

Western Springs

Western springs is great place to go with friends or family. It has big lake, which is considered one of Auckland’s first water supplies. It is really nice and peaceful to take a walk there. You can enjoy walking through the park and looking at lots of different types of birds.
It is very common to see people having BBQs. The park hosts some events like the Pasifika Festival (It is really famous in Auckland).
Do not forget that next to the park is the Auckland Zoo, which is also a great place to visit.
