When visitors leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If a visitor chooses to submit one of our web forms, for example the Test your English form or one of the application forms, their IP address and other potentially personally-identifying or personally-identifying will be collected. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the web form the visitor submits. For example, we ask visitors who use our Test your English feature to provide their name, email address, course preference and a self-assessment of their English level, in addition to providing a writing sample, which is also likely to contain some personal information. In each case, Languages International collects such information only as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Languages International. Languages International does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described in our Personal Data Policy. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Data which you or your agent submit through one of our web forms is retained indefinitely, so that we can continue to provide you services after your course has finished. For example, if you lose your school Leaving Certificate, we would be able to email you a copy. However, if you request for your data to be deleted, we will do so when the data is no longer legally needed. This means we will not be able to reissue your certificate or confirm that you have studied at Languages International.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Data collected by this website may cross international borders. Our servers are in New Zealand. We also use third-party service providers as previously described above. The data they collect is transmitted to their servers in other countries for processing. These countries may include Canada and USA.
If you chose to submit a web form or leave a comment on our website, the data collected is securely sent to our web server in New Zealand where it is saved in the website’s database. If you (or your language travel consultant) apply for you to study at Languages International, the information that you (or your language travel consultant) submit to us via web forms is also stored in our database, which is hosted in Australia. This information will be processed and shared according to the Languages International Personal Data Policy.
