The two upper business classes recently visited the Small Business Expo in Auckland. This was a practical field trip which allowed learners to apply the English they have learned to real-life situations. A group of 27 LIL students and 4 staff, along with 15 students from other schools in Auckland, had a fantastic weekend learning about Maori culture while staying on a Marae outside Whangarei. As well as sleeping on matresses on the marae floor, they learned flax weaving, the haka, woodcarving and how to make poi.
Sixty five students and four staff enjoyed our recent boat party. Prizes were given to the best dancer and the best hat of the night. The students danced the night away as they cruised around the Auckland Harbour gaining spectacular night views of Auckland city.
