Teacher Training

Languages International has trained and developed over 1,200 teachers since it ran its first teacher training course in 1988. LITEC (Languages International Teacher Education Centre) runs a variety of courses for native speakers and non-native speakers:

  • Cambridge CELTA for those with native speaker level English who want to begin a career in English language teaching
  • Cambridge DELTA for English language teachers with native speaker level English who want to develop their teaching skills
  • TESOL Course for non-native speakers who want to develop their teaching and language skills
  • Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) for students whose level of English is intermediate or above and who would like to increase their knowledge of English language teaching.
  • ESOL Teaching Skills TaskBook is a free professional development resource for English language teachers. The TaskBook contains 40 lessons with answer keys that focus on English language teaching skills. It can be used by teachers working alone or by tutors wanting to lead professional development seminars.

Our trainers are all highly qualified (at least half the team have an MA in Applied Linguistics) and have experience in countries as diverse as Australia, Canada, USA, Egypt, England, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, Sweden and Turkey.

We were the first centre in New Zealand to run the RSA/Cambridge CTEFLA (now Cambridge CELTA ) as well as the RSA/Cambridge DTEFLA (now Cambridge DELTA ). We have also run professional development seminars for language teachers from schools around Auckland, including second language tutors at Auckland University.
