Activities
The school has daily activities and special events which allow students
to mix with teachers and other students outside class hours. Every activity
is supervised by a teacher or the activities co-ordinator to ensure there
is a good mixture of safety and fun. Speaking English is compulsory!

You can try a selection of these activities outside school hours:
- play squash or badminton
- see the latest movie
- go ice-skating
- go ten-pin bowling
- learn to play tennis or touch rugby
- play volleyball or basketball
- visit an art gallery
- try rollerblading or cycling
- dance the night away at a Languages International party, or learn how to dance
- play soccer, maybe joining an inter-school competition
- try rock climbing
- play a round of golf
- visit the city museum
- take a harbour cruise (Auckland) or go walking on the hills or the cliffs (Christchurch)
- go horse riding on a New Zealand farm
- enjoy a school barbecue in the park
- listen to a talk about an area of New Zealand life

At the weekends, you can visit many popular sightseeing destinations.
From Auckland:
- The Bay of Islands (picturesque islands, dolphins and early NZ history)
- Rotorua (geysers and geothermal landscape)
- Waitomo (caves, gloworms and blackwater rafting)
- Taupo (lake and waterfalls)
- Tongariro (mountains and snow)
- Opononi (sandboarding)
- Waipoua (giant Kauri trees)
- Muriwai (wild surf)
- Coromandel (white beaches)
- Farmstay near Auckland
From Christchurch:
- Akaroa (attractive town by the sea, with a chance to see dolphins, seals and penguins)
- Quail Island (walk round the whole island)
- Hanmer Springs (hot pools, also bungy-jumping and jet-boating)
- Kaikoura (whale watching)
- The Southern Alps (hiking and sightseeing in the summer, ski-ing and snowboarding in the winter)
- The West Coast (rain forests and wild coastline)
- Dunedin (elegant city, feels like Scotland)
- Mount Cook (the highest mountain in New Zealand)
- Beaches, cliffs and hills just a short bus ride away
